I appreciate the invitation to imagination. My skeptical default serves me well in raising my confidence that what I understand is actually true, but a cost is that I'm often slower to join in imagining radical over marginally better futures. It takes more effort for me.
If you didn't try Eveleth's "Flash Forward" graphic novel, I recommend it. It drops the reader into a dozen imagined worlds, often radically different, and sparked curiosity and thinking I don't always access.
